And 4. a lot of Jazz fans are absolute snobs.
Yep, thats accurate 😂
I feel like you're fucking with me
That’s me 😅
This is so pretentious 💀
bro i just want to learn, don't say curse words at me
If my country have great , cool and kind teachers like you..Jesus would come down.
The issue with scales comes with when to use them to apply different lyrical passages on a solo. Essentially playing what you hear knowing how that note mentally is where u want to go each time. So for example, Everyone starts with 12 major scales. And you memorize them plus your chromatic. So we have 12 scales Then after that 12 natural minor scales with 2 other variations, harmonic and melodic, ok so now 36 extra scales and added scale degrees in there. And those are just the scales u just have to commit to memory. So 12 +36 = 48 scales+ chromatic scale = 49 Then we have modes you have to be able to play those scales form any note that fits a chord or progression and play it all the way up or down to the last note of your instruments capability in my case trombone no trigger low e natural. In 7th position. So now 7 modes x 48 scales = 336 scales + chromatic scale starting on any note (12) =348 scales. Luckily those modes you don’t have to memorize you get a feel for them from doing revolving patterns and licks you commit to memory with certain sounds. But knowing when u can apply those modes is crucial. Octaves triple or quadruple that number. And that’s just the first major and minor scales. Then we have 12 major and minor pentatonic scales + octaves best to commit to memory Then from there blues scales major and minor, + octaves best to commit to memory Now we have forgotten or have neglected the retention usage of all these scales. Because we didn’t exercise when to apply them but how to play them up and down side ways and upside down but not how to feel a solo And we haven’t even gotten to Bebop scales. So as a result u have hit scale burnout or plateau because u have pushed so much into your subconscious but it didn’t lock in because it’s when u apply it that matters most or allows u to retain it more. Same thing with math and drills. It does no one any good if they can play it up and down every time they think scale. Cause when it comes to a solo that’s how they will think of those notes. Let me hit this Eb, then some Ab and a G here F add some rhythms and it’s more musical guessing because there is no application to use scales to make lyrical passages. But more so scalular equation solving.
Ngl this is by far the best video about guitar mistakes ive ever seen
many pros are self-taught and many non-pros play much much better than you do or ever will, lol
No. You are wrong. The difference is how they are written. Putting accents on certain notes is LITERALLY your own artistic merit. You can technically write anything in any time signature. You can also technically write anything in any key signature. Things are generally simplified to make it easier to read by the person reading the music. I HATE WHEN GUITARISTS TRY TO EXPLAIN MUSIC THEORY. Stop. Seriously.
I stopped watching your video for the abuse of "fuck", " idiot" and other word combinations like those. I hate someone yelling at me. I guess if theese are the words that you use, this is who you are, right? Nothing more.

This is what I needed for a break through Thank You so much
Both were pretty bad
That was a temper tantrum from a child.
Perfect troll laugh as he runs away
Mine was A minor
I mean, I'm self taught, I'm not a professional guitarist by any means but this definitely isn't true. I do follow the pentatonic boxes a good bit of course
G, A#, F, G#? Thats insane my dude, who sharps the 2?
1:55 made me shed a tear
Nah bruh .....im guthrie govan Definitely! I think id know I argue with my birth certificate about it every day
This is true, happened to me when i was a 3 years guitar player, i wish someone told me before too
What i do personally as a slef thaugh is i learn the NOTES not the pattern THE NOTES and i preactice finding em and improvising!
mine is, Jim Root, Synyster Gates, Bocchi (yes im serious) and of course: Brian May
iirc Brian May often used this patterns on songs
Stupid
at the start, i hated to patrice guitar because i really thought i would be playing perfectly after a few weeks, took a while for me to actually get the hang of it and it was worth it
Accountability
I feel like a lot of these people are talking about guitar as a casual hobby, while your point was more about guitar as a passion
dude you are a legend youtube needed this
😐😐😐Dude I always thought your grip sucks, I get that it works for you, that's cool and all because you have huge ass long fingers💀, but don't come to me n say that your grip is the correct way, it's your way. I would recommend to people especially in termediate to learn the grip from Steve Vai, he has videos on UA-cam that leave you in shock and with a life lesson I could say, so dont listen to this punk. Further more, your grip is actually dangerous, yes I said dangerous. One of my guitar teachers used to play guitar without holding the neck correctly and during practice if you hold your guitar just like you do without support, you will bend your hand 90° and not only you look ridiculous, you actually get carpal tunnel. My guitar teacher though it was the end of him, and still in this day he struggles to play guitar, but cannot leave the love of his life. To sum up, guys there are plenty great guitar teachers online but never let anyone tell you how to play guitar like this way or that way. As you play more and more hours you will get your own technique that differentiate you from the others, you dont need to hear some idiot advice or play in a way because someone said so. So go play your instrument and make it an extension of your own. Remember that we play for fun and because it makes us happy.❤️
Will you yell at me in your courses too? I’m only interested if I’ll be verbally abused
there are people who actually want to listen to more than 25 minutes of green day?
You know, the very first time I went to a store that sells musical instruments -- I worded it that way because that store is literally the only store in our town that sells instruments -- I was really nervous. I had never even held a musical instrument before and I was really, really nervous. I don't know why. It was my birthday and my brother had tagged along. We'd both wanted to buy something with our pocket money for a while and we were like, You buy the guitar, I'll buy a keyboard. It wasn't a fun experience because the guy who sells these instruments is so fucking rude. I couldn't believe it, he belittled my brother for not knowing how to play. I mean, fuck that guy. I am waiting for the day I buy a guitar from him, again, because, surprise, surprise, when he did that to my brother, it motivated me to learn. I can play the guitar now, fairly well, and sing while I play, too. Fingers crossed. I want to see that bastard, again. But, honestly, if our shopping experience had not been so horrendous, that would have been the most awesome moment, I highly recommend buying some instrument and trying to learn it. You will be forever grateful!
Well, i think guthrie govan explains caged system much better. It is much more than this. Look up when guthrie talks about playing in the style of hendrix. I suspect the caged system is still a part of guthrie's musical vocabulary. It probably just means that most of us haven't properly figured it out. And i think it truly shows that the caged system doesn't suck, but we do
Thank you Brandon, I never knew of this site before nor thought of trying to randomly find notes, are there any expansion exercises you could add to this? Like, how can we put this to use with triads? Hang on, I could be jumping ahead here… how do we practice creating triads and understanding inversions better?
Will this no-reason to be aggressive pay off...😮
I'm currently learning acoustic guitar and I can't imagine not struggling with barre chords
What the fuck are those socks
